Torture

Doonesbury author Gary Trudeau wants the US to return to the gentle approach used during WWII. Trudeau is either a flaming hypocrite or woefully ignorant of history. Guantanamo is a far kinder place than the interment camps in which Japanese Americans were detained during WWII. Guantanamo is easily the cushiest military prison in history. The inmates there are better cared for than the unfortunate inhabitants of the rest of the Cuba.
The recent allegations that the US is involved in torture degrade discourse and thought. The Daily Kos (I will not link to that POS) claims that “the torture that was so bad under Saddam, is equally bad under U.S. command”. The Jawa Report describes a few versions of real torture as practiced under Saddam. Be warned that there are ugly photos.
