Single Parents
My wife went on a business trip to Chicago yesterday, returning Wednesday. I’ve been taking care of my two daughters and two dogs. I don’t know how single parents manage.

I know an incredible group of women, spread across the U.S., with one common characteristic. These women raise 2-4 children with absolutely no help, and work one, two or three jobs to pay all the bills.
Approximately 7 in 10 of these women, based on my data, sacrifice their own social lives and personal mental health to accomplish this maternal feat.
Watching that 70% slowly but surely self-destruct in front of my eyes — and I am always powerless to stop the process — is a tragedy worthy of an Italian opera, Tennessee Williams play, or John Steinbeck novel.
I’d write the stories up myself but just thinking about these women sends rivers of salt running down my face.
