An update on the Cingular Wireless incident
A few days ago I had harsh words for and about Cingular Wireless. Today I received a call from Ms. L, an assistant to the President of Cingular, in response to my letter. She wanted to make things right, and to tell me that (contrary to appearances) the people I dealt with are not employees of Cingular Wireless, but independent re-sellers of their services and equipment. Nevertheless, she was concerned that their actions were damaging Cingular’s reputation. I suspect she may have had a few words for them.
Also, the manager of the store where I bought the defective phone called and agreed to refund my money. I plan to return the defective phone later this week. Ms. L asked me to call her and let her know how that goes, and I will. Unlike the people I dealt with originally, Ms. L seemed intent on helping me solve my problem. That is all I ever wanted. That is what I pay for. She managed to turn my opinion of Cingular 180 degrees, and to keep me as a customer.
