Just like Heaven
One mark of a good song is that there are great covers because the song begs to be covered. By that standard, Amazing Grace rules. Another one I like is Just Like Heaven. The Cure did a bunch of versions, and Dinosaur Jr. did the Fear and Loathing version, pure genius. I had never heard Katie Melua before, but liked what she did with the song.

I first discovered this song, with the great video, in it’s original form by The Cure. It’s still my favorite version; to my ear, their acoustic version, and the covers I’ve heard, just don’t match the crystalized magic of Robert Smith the way the original does.
