Pyrrhic Victory

Excellent analysis by Patrick Hynes of the Lamont victory over Lieberman:

There is very little Democrats should be happy about regarding this debacle. The party’s 2000 Vice Presidential nominee has bolted. The white rats are running the laboratory. And the pro-Bush candidate just got 48% in a Democrat primary.

And it’s always fun to see party of poor and downtrodden field fabulously wealthy candidates who buy their way around campaign finance laws.

  1. It appears that the dems are going to lose one senate seat to the independents, but I’m sure Lieberman will now want to vote a straight dem party line after learning his lesson and considering how nicely the dems have treated him. Won’t he? The tail appears to nbe wagging the dog in the dem party. They’ve had such good success running liberals for national offices, why not continue to follow this blueprint for success?
