string theory
The cartoon, by Lee Lorenz, was originally published in the New Yorker. The New Yorker has the best cartoons of any magazine I have ever seen. String theory is hotly debated among physicists.

I sure hope Harvey’s serves hard liquor. Science needs more barfights on questions such as Are any of the predictions of string theory testable?
Certainly standard scientific method is failing astrophysics here. String theorists seem as entranced by this currently untestable set of theories as Freudians were in their day.
Yes, yes but a close second to the New Yorker cartoons is the National Lampoon of the 70’s and 80’s. This reminds me of a good friend who, in the dorms of Loyola University, used to cut out and collect cartoons and stick them to the walls of his dorm room. Oh yeah, he also would throw his socks against the unpainted brick walls.

I have to agree with you about the old National Lampoon cartoons. They were awesome.
