Relating this back to the article a couple of weeks ago on the same subject, this is an honest question in which I do not mean to take a jab at conservatives who do not believe in the theory of global warming or are highly suspect of a liberal agenda - What does the Left gain by trying to persuade this theory?
I’m always suspicious of issues which polarize the two parties and don’t trust politicians in general. However, in this instance I can only see an agenda for the Right to oppose global warming, but not for the Left to push it (with the exception of Gore wanting to gain good graces).
I ask this with an open mind to see what I am missing.
I’ll give it a try with one possible reason. The left has observed how effectively the right has used fear of terrorism (in my view a real threat) to get the control over people that the right seeks, an example being the Patriot Act. The left came up with the threat of global warming, a threat that actually trumps terrorism in their view, as it cuts across all boundaries, national, religious, racial, economic. They plan to use fear of this threat (not real in my view), to get the control over peolple that they seek for their aims: business and industry are evil and need to be contolled and limited by the altruistic left; people are not smart enough to make their own decisions so we’ll tell which cars to drive and which light bulbs to use, etc., etc., etc.
There’s an interesting op-ed by Patrick Michaels, a Phd in ecological climatology and research prof at Virginia, on the Cato Insitute Intitute website about Gore’s mocumentary. I should warn everyone that Dr. Michaels is not an entertainer. http://www.cato.org

Dear Conservative Bias,
I don’t think you’re missing a thing. I think you make an excellent point.
And Welcome!
I think you ask an excellent question. I’ll try to address it in a post rather than a comment.
