new look

I have been toying with the idea of a new look for the site. I installed a new theme, Barthelme. I plan to tweak it a bit more. Any opinions re the new look?

Update: Barthelme looked terrible on Windows. Current theme is called Vengeance. All the sidebar stuff is now at the bottom. Tweaks still required. Wordpress 2.1 broke the blogroll code in lots of themes, so I need to fix that, and I plan to reorganize the sidebar. Colors may change a bit too.

    I find the new look, fresh out of the box, far less aesthetically pleasing than the previous two looks. I do expect, however, that your tweaking will involve aesthetic enhancements.

    Further, I do not judge books, Carnal Reason, or women by their covers. It’s the substance that counts. And Carnal Reason has got substance to spare.

    On my machine, at least, the content is all shoved over to the right.

    Of course, this could be the conscious choice of our host.

    One of the sorry facts about the web is that what looks good on one platform can look awful on another. The new theme looks pretty nice under Firefox on my Mac. Using Firefox on Windows it looks miserable. I am amazed at the difference. Not yet sure what to do…
