Redemption Song

Redemption Song is an old favorite of mine. I was pleased to stumble across a fabulous version by guitarist Raul Midon, and Tété. I had it here briefly, and then You Tube took it down. Here instead is Cassandra Wilson, with a totally different but wonderful version.

And a bonus, Eva Cassidy covers Time After Time.

  2. Jah Rastafariah!

This great song, originally released on Bob Marley and the Wailers’ 1980 album “Uprising”, is a landmark in roots reggae making to the U.S.

The original was just Bob on vocal and acoustic guitar, the same arrangement as this marvelous cover. The reissue of the album in 2001 contains a full band version of the song that you must hear before you die!

  3. The subtle jazz colors in Cassandra Wilson’s guitar players’ accompaniment are spectacular.
